Ist es Science Fiction wenn’s schon so realistisch wirkt?

Venor Vinge ist einer meiner Lieblings-Autoren, ich hab ja auch schon viele Bücher von ihm empfohlen. Die waren alle in einer ‘galaxy far far away’ angesiedelt. Bei meinem Besuch in San Francisco im April hab ich sein neuestes Buch mitgenommen: Rainbows End.

Das spielt im Jahre 2025 und zeigt eine Welt (genauer: ein San Diego) wie ich es mir gut vorstellen kann: ein bisschen mehr Internet, ein bisschen mehr Augmented Reality, ein bisschen mehr Homeland Security.

Ich kann das Buch nur wärmstens empfehlen: wenn man verstehen will was Augmented Reality ist. Wenn man über die Zukunft der Bildung oder die Zukunft des Computerspiels nachdenken will.

I first tried to deciphere the text using the Tengwar for english mode, but that didn’t work out. I ended up using is a slightly modified form of the “Mode of Beleriand” as found in

An introduction to elvish and the other tongues and proper names and writing systems of the third age of the western lands of middle earth as set forth in the published writings of professor John Ronald Reuel Tolkien”
